PMI Electro Mobility Launches Green Mobility Initiative on World Environment Day

On June 5, 2025, World Environment Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated 200 electric buses from PMI Electro Mobility in Delhi. This event marked a significant step towards sustainable public transportation under the Green Viksit Bharat mission.

The buses are set to operate on 30 designated green routes across the capital, contributing to the reduction of urban emissions. In a symbolic gesture, the Prime Minister planted a banyan sapling at Bhagwan Mahavir Vanasthali Park as part of the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign.

This initiative encourages citizens to plant trees in honor of their mothers, promoting environmental conservation and biodiversity.To support this campaign, PMI Electro Mobility distributed 10,000 biodegradable seed cards containing basil and wildflower seeds. These cards are designed for easy planting and are expected to germinate within two weeks.

Citizens were encouraged to plant the seeds at home and share their experiences on social media platforms, fostering community engagement in environmental stewardship. Dr. Aanchal Jain, CEO of PMI Electro Mobility, emphasized the company’s commitment to sustainable innovation.

With over 2,500 electric buses deployed across 31 cities, PMI’s fleet is projected to reduce more than 250,000 metric tons of CO₂ emissions annually, totaling over 3 million metric tons throughout their service life.

This initiative aligns with the broader goals of the Green Viksit Bharat mission, aiming to integrate clean mobility solutions with active citizen participation in environmental conservation efforts.
