Kia Carens Clavis EV to Launch July 15 as India’s First Mass‑Market 7‑Seater Electric MPV Kia

Kia India is preparing to launch the Carens Clavis EV, its first mass-market electric MPV, on July 15, 2025. This electric version of the popular Clavis will be the first locally manufactured seven-seater EV available in India.

The Carens Clavis EV is expected to use powertrains similar to the Hyundai Creta Electric, offering two battery pack options—42 kWh and 51.4 kWh—paired with a front-mounted electric motor. The smaller pack could deliver around 390 km range, while the larger one may offer up to 473 km under internal test cycles.

Exterior design will be similar to the ICE Clavis, with EV-specific touches like a sealed grille, aero wheels, “digital tiger face” LED lighting, and full-length LED light bar.

Inside, features will likely mirror the ICE variant, including a dual 12.3-inch screen setup, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, wireless charging, 360° camera, and Level 2 ADAS. Multiple seating configurations may be offered in 6- and 7-seater formats.

Expected pricing is in the ₹16–18 lakh (ex-showroom) range, aimed at undercutting competitors such as the BYD eMax 7, which starts at ₹26.90 lakh. The Carens Clavis EV will be built locally at Kia’s plant in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh
