Kanpur to Turn into ₹700 Crore EV Manufacturing Hub by 2030 Kanpur e1750437117149

The Uttar Pradesh government has unveiled plans to develop a 500-acre Electric Vehicle (EV) Park near Bhimsen in Kanpur as part of its “Vision 2030” initiative. The park will cost ₹700 crore and operate under a public–private partnership led by the UP State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA).

This EV Park will include facilities to manufacture electric motors, chassis, steel parts, lithium-ion cells, battery assembly, chargers, controllers, and other electronic components. A dedicated research and development (R&D) centre will support innovation and product development.

The project also features an integrated EV components cluster aimed at supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs). This cluster will help strengthen the local supply chain and create new job opportunities for entrepreneurs and workers.

Kanpur’s strategic location along the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) gives it strong logistical advantages. Easy access to rail and road networks will aid the transport of raw materials and finished goods.

Officials say the park will help boost EV adoption, reduce carbon emissions, and position Kanpur as a major player in India’s domestic and global EV manufacturing landscape.

This investment is expected to accelerate the growth of India’s clean mobility ecosystem and contribute to economic development in Uttar Pradesh.
