GHMC to Install 50 More EV Charging Stations in Hyderabad GHMC

Hyderabad is set to get 50 additional electric vehicle (EV) charging units to address the growing demand from EV users. The Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation (TGREDCO) and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) are collaborating on this initiative.

These new systems include both high-speed DC chargers with a capacity of 15 kW and slow C-type chargers ranging from 122–150 kW. Each station will occupy about 260 sq ft and allow two vehicles to charge simultaneously.

All stations will run on renewable energy and will be installed in locations like malls, multiplexes, and commercial complexes to ensure convenience for users.

The existing network already includes 90 charging centers, with another 40 under installation. With the addition of these 50 units, the total will rise to 180 charging centers across Greater Hyderabad.

To protect the charging stations and equipment from theft, all new units will be equipped with CCTV cameras following advice from local authorities.

This expansion aims to support Hyderabad’s push toward reduced carbon emissions and increased EV adoption through improved charging infrastructure .
